Participatory Action Research (PAR) is a way of applying elements of the scientific method to our lived experiences toward a more just society. PAR has deep roots both in the United States (Lewin, 1946) and in Latin America (Freire, 1970; Fals-Borda, 1991), and continues to evolve as a tool and methodology in education, public health, and social justice movements around the world.
